First of all, hello to everyone from a new semester. My blog post this week is about sustainability and virtual worlds.
First of all I want to answer this question;
- What is virtual identity and virtual worlds?
Virtual identity is the identity we create in a virtual world completely different from real life. Virtual worlds, on the other hand, are completely different from real life. The only difference is that it is in a virtual environment. If we sum up,
A virtual world is a computer-simulated environment which may be populated by many users who can create a personal avatar, and simultaneously and independently explore the virtual world, participate in its activities and communicate with others .These avatars can be textual, graphical representations or live video avatars with auditory and touch sensations.
Our second question is;
- What is sustainability? What do you think about how we can live in a sustainable way?
To put it classically,
Sustainability is the capacity to endure in a relatively ongoing way across various domains of life. In the 21st century, it refers generally to the capacity for Earth's biosphere and human civilization to co-exist.
For sustainability, we need to be environmentalist first. Simply put, "nature".
In order for the existing nature and ecosystem to be sustainable, there must be zero carbon waste. Nature has certain requirements to be sustainable. These requirements are present in every area of our lives. In other words, in order to make a situation sustainable, we need to meet some of its requirements.
And the last question is;
- How could using virtual worlds support sustainable living?
Virtual worlds, a sustainable by making specific processes both directly and indirectly, by encouraging people to adopt more sustainable lifestyles has the potential to contribute to sustainability. AR/VR technologies can be used by geographically dispersed teams to reduce the need for travel and decarbonize their carbon footprint.
